Today is another full trek day!
Stats:
6.04 miles
2,497 ft gain
14,161 max altitude
Today's highlightS were seeing yaks for the first time and a stop at the Khumjung Gompa where they house the "skull and hand of the Yeti" we spent time inside this monastery viewing their holy relic (the hand and skull) and received an additional blessing from the lama for luck on our trek while he tied a red thread around our necks. We also received a small food item to eat while still kneeling from the blessing that would provide us promise and luck in relationships. (We all know I need it!)
The elevation is starting to effect members of our trekking group - some headaches, a lot of coughs/congestion, but mostly fatigue. It's quite dry and dusty, which means everyone has a buff or mask on at all times while walking.
Just to paint a picture for oxygen concentration:
Sea level 21%
Here is 12.6%
On that note... tomorrow is another acclimation day, bye!
