Dingbouche—> Lobuche
Brrrrr, today is our coldest day yet. Many yak dung fires are being burned to warm the tea houses/ surrounding homes and smoke fills the streets as we take to the trail.
Today the weather continued to favor us and we saw staggering views of the surrounding mountain ranges. It’s impossiblE to put into words how massive and humbling this terrain is, especially when you crest a hill Into a memorial site for those who have been lost to the mountain. Hundreds of prayer flags and stacked stones stand as reminders of how dangerous and alluring the call of the mountains truly is.
Today we end In lobuche, our last stop before reaching everest base camp. A common quote whilst hiking today was “i’m hungry for oxygen” which funnily enough, our teahouse for the night ended up being called oxygen altitude.
Stats:
5.32 miles
2,316ft gain
16,173 Max altitude
Tomorrow, basecamp. 🤠
