EVEREST BASE CAMP!
What. A. Slog.
Today we left lobuche and headed up to Gorakshep for a quick Stop/gear drop before the final push up to ebc. This small settlement is blanketed in a fine dust that lends itself to its other worldly feel at 16,942 ft. 🤯
A few members of our party have started to feel the affects of the elevation, but chose to push through the last couple miles/few hundred feet to basecamp. This choice got them to their goal, but it came at a cost. One member became so sick one of our sherpas (Pasang) put her on her back and started to run down the trail, while another ran ahead to hire a horse so they could get her to lower elevation ASAP.
We made a very hurried visit to EBC, took a few photos, took a nip, or two, of gin and hightailed it back to Gorarkshep before the sunset.
Honestly EBC itself is anticlimactic AF, but the journey to it is absolutely amazing and felt great to accomplish with an phenomenal group of women. 🫶
